PARIS: Superstar Brazil, Neymar, dijangka diperkenalkan secara rasmi sebagai bintang terbaru Paris Saint-Germain (SPG) seawal esok, selepas kelabnya, Barcelona, akur kalah dalam usaha meyakinkan pemain itu supaya kekal di Sepanyol.

Pemindahan itu - yang mencipta rekod dunia baru sebanyak 222 juta euro ($356 juta), iaitu lebih seganda berbanding rekod dunia lama yang dibayar Manchester Uniter untuk mendapatkan Paul Pogba daripada Juventus tahun lalu (105.2 juta euro) - akan menyaksikan Neymar dibayar gaji 865,000 euro seminggu.

Premier League chief Richard Scudamore does not expect to see any transfers in English football matching the £200m world record fee paid by Paris St Germain to sign Neymar from Barcelona.

Scudamore regards the move that made Neymar the most expensive footballer of all time last week as a demonstration of spending power by the Ligue 1 club's Qatari owners that is unlikely to be repeated on the same scale.

'I can't see anything like that (in the Premier League),' Scudamore told BBC Radio 5 live. 'When the previous record was £89million (Paul Pogba), to suddenly go to £200million that's something else going on there.

INTO THE FUTURE WITH SPACE-PLANE

British engineers have unveiled a revolutionary 'spaceplane' that can take off from an ordinary airport runway and carry tourists and which could operating within a decade.

The “Skylon spaceplane”, which so far has cost $1.12 billion to develop, can travel at more than five times the speed of sound.

The unpiloted craft, which can take off from an airport runway, has no external rockets and two engines use hydrogen and oxygen to propel it more than 18 miles into space, the Daily Telegraph reported.

Officials from the UK Space Agency believe it can revolutionise space travel and significantly cut its cost by taking advantage of newly developed technology.

Although it is primarily intended to launch satellites, they say the ship, which will carry 30 to 40 passengers, could even pioneer a new era in space tourism.

Reports have suggested that developing the craft will eventually cost about $12 billion, the same amount it costs to develop an Airbus jet. The craft has been developed by Reaction Engines with support from the new space agency.

Mark Hempsell, future programs director at Reaction Engines Ltd, told CNN: "The engine starts by burning hydrogen with air and finishes up burning hydrogen with liquid oxygen like a shuttle engine."

Because all this is in the same rocket chamber, the aircraft can take off and land in the same way as a conventional jumbo jet.
Mr Hempsell said: "It's a very doable system. The basics of the engine are thoroughly rooted and explored, so there is no danger they aren't going to work. We feel that this should have taken over from the shuttle a while back."

Richard Varvill, technical director and one of the founders of Reaction Engines, believes his company’s craft will revolutionise space travel. “Access to space is extraordinarily expensive, yet there’s no law of physics that says it has to be that way,” he told The Engineer magazine.

“We just need to prove it’s viable. The simple truth is that the Earth is part of a much bigger system. “We’re talking a bit of science fiction now, but in theory there’s nothing that stops you going out (into space).

Officials will meet next week at a special two-day workshop next week, which will investigate how it can be developed commercially. Reaction Engines said it will take 10 years to develop, leaving Britain to become the first country in the world to launch a spaceplane in orbit.
